Make your small kitchen work…

With 3/4’s of us now living in urban areas, it’s no surprise that our kitchens are getting smaller. With this said, there are many hacks that you can do when it comes to planning your new kitchen to maximise the space you have. Fall in love with the space and make your small kitchen work…

  1. Think about the colour of the cabinetry. By picking lighter cabinetry units, the room will appear larger and more airy. Think about white, cream or a light grey colour for your cabinet doors. If you do like the idea of incorporating darker colours into your kitchen think about a two tone kitchen, or consider choosing dark accessories such as  your microwave and kettle.
  2. Consider space saving cabinets. It is possible to get cupboards which pre fitted storage in such as pots and pans storage, under the sink storage and pull down utensil features. With a small kitchen, you have to be savvy with the space you have and with these smart cabinets, you will get the most from it. Speak to us about how we can add in space saving features to your cabinets.
  3. Opt for a mirror impression splashback. Although, you can’t make the space bigger, you can give an optical illusion. Adding mirrored features such as the splashback, can make the space to appear larger than it is.
  4. Use clever lighting. Under the cabinet up lights and pendant lights can both create the illusion of a larger space. By using up lighting on the cabinets, this will also help to brighten up any dark corners you may have!
  5. Utilise your blank walls. Instead of filling a drawer full of utensils, consider using hooks and hang them on the splashbacks or empty wall space. Then, you can fit more things in the drawers, and your utensils will be within easy reach when you come to use them.

No matter the size or shape of your kitchen, come and meet us and we can design the kitchen to fit. All of our kitchens are made to order meaning each kitchen is bespoke!
